I hope everyone has had a relaxing 3-day weekend.
My wife and I were able to do some work around the house and yard the last couple of days. Sadie Miller (almost 2) moved into our dressing room for her first "big girl" room and she's loving it. My older kids are probably like many of you and were happy to have a couple of days to just lounge around.
Schedule
Mon 9/1 (if you missed practice this AM, check FS and get this done today)
Tue 9/2 3:45 PM @ Old Storybook Island
Wed 9/3 3:45 PM @ Sioux Park
Thu 9/4 5:30 AM @ Tom's Trails (lower parking lot at Stevens)

Fri 9/5 OYO (early release)

Douglas
The Douglas meet was super positive for the whole crew. It's clear by the first meet if you are going to be in contention for a state title or not and both the boys and girls will be one of those teams. We have a lot of work to do, but it's fun being in the conversation.
We had a consistent group of kids that showed up everyday (literally) since June 9th and it really showed on Friday as our squads (Varsity, JV- boys & girls) all dominated their races.
Cross Country scoring includes the Top 5 runners from each team. The 6th & 7th runners on a team can displace other teams' Top 5 to raise their score; they're called the "pushers". You'll see in the results that some teams didn't field a full team so those runners don't count in the team score which is why it looked like we had almost "perfect" scores in some of the races.
We had some really massive individual improvements compared to the same meet a year ago and that helped our team scores a ton. It is always about the what you can do to make your team better and I just want to give a shout-out to the crew that busted their butts everyday this summer. It mattered in all 4 races. It keeps the Runnin' Raiders tradition alive.
This isn't an all-inclusive list, but here are a couple of big "summer jumps" of over 1 minute from a year ago. This doesn't happen by accident- this is simply putting in the work everyday.
Tate Van Beek 17:53 to 15:51
Evan Perrigo 17:59 to 16:23
Torin Jackson 18:10 to 16:31
Weston Adams 21:11 to 17:03 (4+ minutes!!!!)
Josh Uhre 18:25 to 17:12
Noah Hansen 20:48 to 17:22
Jaxon Hanson 21:26 to 17:31 (nearly 4 minutes!!!)
Gavin Friend 20:09 to 18:28
Noah Ketel 21:45 to 19:14
Isaac Cristol 21:17 to 19:48
Kadance Holso 21:57 to 18:57 (3 minutes!!!!)
Brinna Sheldon 20:52 to 19:19
Vi Sietsema 22:05 to 20:52
Looking ahead I think we have three boys and three girls that can challenge to be in the Top 10 at state, but THE KEY TO SUCCESS at the state meet will having the best 4-5-6-7. We don't have this yet, but we have the people to do it. I am excited to see who steps up in training to make that happen. We only have about 6 weeks of really hard work before the big meets at the end of the season.
