Hello!
Just a couple of notes as we head into July.
1.) We'll meet on Monday (June 30) 6 AM @ Sioux Park.
2.) July 1st-7th is the summer moratorium for all SDHSAA sports and activities. This means that coaches can't be present at the group training sessions. However, still get together and train; I'll see when/where the seniors choose to meet and we'll go from there.
All of the workouts for each group will be on Final Surge.
3.) Physicals. Get your annual physical this summer before practice starts! This is also a good time to speak to your doctor if you've experienced any signs of low hemoglobin/iron/ferritin (scroll down on the Athlete Health page to learn more)
Low iron/hemoglobin/ferritin will cost you ~1-2 min per 5k / ~30-60s per 3200m / ~15-30s for a 1600m
General signs that you should get your iron tested:
general lethargy and fatigue
shortness of breath during routine tasks like walking up the stairs
negative mood
difficulty concentrating in school
reduced work capacity, ie. you might have noticed your training times are slower than expected or just be finding it harder than normal to train
poor adaptation to training
slower than expected race times based on the amount of training you're doing
4.) Final Surge
It's required to have a Final Surge account. It's free and is used as your training log. If you don't have one set up, contact Coach Coy (coachjessecoy@gmail.com) and I will help you!
Sign up at finalsurge.com or download the FS app on your phone.
After you've done that, contact me and I'll send you the invite.
That's it for now!
